At LEAD Brick Church, we serve all students in the Whites Creek neighborhood and prepare them with the skills and knowledge they need to be ready for college and life.

LEAD Brick Church became part of the LEAD network in 2012 through a partnership with the state to turnaround the school and serve students in the Whites Creek neighborhood in North Nashville. Since becoming part of the LEAD Network, we have increased core instruction time and critical resources to support our teachers and students—  adding counselors on site, additional student support staff, wrap around services, and partnerships with community mentoring organizations. We also offer sports (football, soccer, basketball, track, cheerleading) to foster and encourage, develop and educate the whole child.

In the 2017-2018 school year, Brick Church cut suspensions in half and improved student growth from below the state average to ABOVE average.

LEAD Brick Church is a part of the LEAD Public Schools network, founded in 2007 on the belief that any student can achieve at high levels if given the opportunity. Our mission is to prepare every student with the knowledge and necessary skills to be “Ready for College, Ready for Life.” With two high schools and four middle schools, LEAD is Nashville’s largest public charter schools network, serving over 2,400 students across the city.  

As part of the LEAD Network, Brick Church students benefit from best in class curriculum and practices:

  • All of our students and teachers practice the LEAD Ethos every day: “We are LEADers because we are committed, courageous, disciplined, self-reliant and because we serve others.”
  • Students participate in Crew, a daily time for students gather to discuss their progress and any challenges, and set goals for the week. These gatherings become a consistent part of the student’s experience throughout their time at Brick Church.
  • Beginning in fifth grade, students have the opportunity to visit college campuses where they can learn about different college programs and choices and begin exploring the best fit to help them achieve their goals.
  • Each year, we flip the script on parent-teacher conferences. Students lead the conversation by providing an update to a teacher or family member on their goals and progress. It builds ownership of academic goals and confidence in professional environments.
